Residue Calculus is a method for solving certain infinite dimensional linear equations. Generally these equations arise from the Eigenfunction Matching Method and they have very special structure. For this reason they can be solved by constructing a special function which takes on certain values at the singularities.

It has been sucessfully applied to the problem in which there are two semi-infinite regions in which one is open water and the other is either a dock (Linton)) or a Floating Elastic Plate.
