The principal objective of wavemaker theory is to determine [math]\displaystyle{ A \, }[/math] as a function of [math]\displaystyle{ \omega, \Pi \, }[/math] and [math]\displaystyle{ H \, }[/math].

Other types of wavemaker modes may be treated similarly.
